Lakeview is known for it's surrounding areas, which provide a wealth of natural materials for Gerber's work including, juniper wood, which he favors, but the abundance of shed deer antlers as well. Gerber takes a great deal of pride in the fact that each of his wood sculptures are directly reclaimed from nature. Dead juniper snags and shed antlers lying on the forest floor have a chance to come back to life in a new way. Juniper wood is very durable wood, which grows in high desert areas. It is rich in color and offers an enormous amount of natural characteristics. Gerber concentrates on focal points and believes that these beautiful features of juniper wood, lend a very appealing effect with all interior design.

After years of working with several galleries throughout the nation including California, Colorado, Montana, and Virginia, as well as, showing his work at various art shows, Gerber's "One-Of-A-Kind" wood carvings are placed across

the United States and other countries, as well.

Over the years, Gerber developed his own style of wood carving, which he refers to it as, "Reduction-Application/Reverse-Reduction." Reduction is the process of removing the outside wood to reach the desired point on the inside while Reverse-Reduction is the process of reducing a three-dimensional form on the outside and then the form also on the inside so that when applied to another reduced form it will fit over it naturally. Although it is a slow and difficult process, it allows for much more detail and realism in the carving. Finally, this process eliminates the reproduction of a carving, making each of them One-Of-A-Kind.

Gerber finds inspiration in Native Americans, wildlife, the Southwestern culture, mountain men, and even the occasional mermaid. Through his wood sculptures, Gerber devotes his efforts into creating pieces which express beauty, serenity and freedom.
